Between tango and empanadas, discover the Buenos Aires Learning Expedition

A city bursting with riches

Buenos Aires is a blend of history and modernity. In the city, you’ll find colorful streets, architectural buildings and a whole mix of Latin American culture. You’ll soon find yourself in the trendy Palermo Soho district, or dancing the tango in San Telmo.

The city is also brimming with creative talent and innovative companies, from promising start-ups to world-renowned marketing and communications agencies. Throughout the week, our students had the opportunity to talk to a number of these organizations. Alongside these conferences, they were able to discover the culture and habits of the Argentinian people.

All these meetings were made possible thanks to the exceptional support of Siglo 21 University. In collaboration with Digital College, the organization put together a program full of cultural discoveries and instructive professional exchanges.

Enriching exchanges

Throughout the week, the students met with a number of entrepreneurs and professionals from the marketing and digital worlds. The program included a workshop on Google tools, a visit to La Nacion (one of Argentina’s biggest media outlets), a meeting on entrepreneurship in Argentina and a company visit.

The network and contacts that can be forged on a learning expedition are a real opportunity, especially for the students, who had the chance to meet the CEO and the entire team of marketing and communications agency UO Solutions. During this exchange, some were even able to interview the group’s HR and make numerous contacts during an afterwork session.

They were also able to take part in one of the country’s most important digital events: Campus Summit 2023, bringing together technology, science, entrepreneurship and innovation around conferences and workshops to share knowledge and skills.

An immersion in Argentine culture

During their trip to Buenos Aires, the students were immersed in Argentine culture. From culinary specialties to emblematic monuments and traditions, the group discovered typical South American lifestyles. On their very first day, they were able to explore the city’s landmark monuments and spaces on a city bus tour, giving them the opportunity to discover the main historic districts.

But where there’s an Argentine city, there’s an Argentine tango! Decked out in their finest outfits, with heels for the bravest and big smiles for the brightest, the students took part in an initiation to tango, in the company of a professional dancer; a course that enabled them to step out of their comfort zone and become true Tanguero dancers.

After so much effort, there’s nothing like a good meal! Maté, pastries, pizza and empanadas: our students sampled delicious Argentinian cuisine. Argentinians are great advocates of their pizza, and are said to be among the best pizza makers in the world. The group took part in a “pizza trek”, testing out 5 pizzerias in the city’s Italian quarter. But Argentinians are above all the kings of empanadas! Our students tried to match them by making their own empanadas during a cooking class.
