Singapore: a trip full of surprises

After Japan and Korea, our students are back in Asia. And this time, it's back to Malaysia to discover Singapore.

This city is bursting with cultural treasures. With its unique atmosphere and impressive urban landscape, Singapore is a veritable melting pot. And it was in this dynamic setting that the students explored the city and Malaysian culture. They also learned about professional life in Singapore, through conferences and exchanges. These encounters enabled the students to understand how the Malaysian working world works, by observing the successes and challenges of local companies.

Professional immersion in Singapore

Having become a world leader in technology, with a favorable environment for start-ups, the city attracts creative people and entrepreneurs from all over the world. This is one of the reasons why our students chose this destination. They had the opportunity to visit incubators, start-ups and innovative companies, and to meet industry experts in digital, entrepreneurship and marketing.

During their week, the students met Thibault Briere, founder and managing director of Growth Marketing Studio, and Emile Dumont, founder and CEO of ThePosture Lab and Bodynetic. These were rich exchanges of knowledge and shared experiences, which remain engraved in the students’ minds.

But the discoveries didn’t stop there: the young people were able to visit the University of Singapore Institute of Management, as well as the Block 71 incubator. These are very important moments during Learning Expeditions, as they enable students to immerse themselves and understand the way of working in a different culture and country.

An arrival under the sign of discovery

As soon as they arrived in Singapore, the students had the opportunity to visit the city’s landmarks on a city tour bus. They marveled at Chinatown, a district where Chinese traditions have successfully blended with modern architecture. The lively streets and magnificent temples gave them an insight into Singapore’s cultural richness. Then it’s on to Little India, a lively district where Indian culture and scents can be found in numerous markets.

It’s impossible to visit Singapore without passing through Marina Bay or Kampong Glam, a district that embodies the city’s Malay heritage, with colorful streets, traditional stores and the Sultan Mosque.

This day of discovery allowed the students to fully immerse themselves in the spirit of Singapore. They were transported through the city’s iconic neighborhoods and cultural landmarks, creating unforgettable memories.

Singapore and its atypical districts

The visits didn’t stop there for our students. Known as a garden city, nature coexists with urbanization within the city. The students had the opportunity to visit emblematic green spaces such as Gardens by the Bay. On the menu: a futuristic universe, with trees reaching dizzying heights, brightly colored flowers and magical waterfalls. Our students were able to catch a glimpse of suspension bridges and a breathtaking light show at night.

Our learners’ Learning Expedition to Singapore was much more than just a trip. The city proved to be a veritable hub of ideas and opportunities. With their heads full of enriching knowledge and memories, Digital College students won’t soon forget this trip.
